    Description

NO RESERVE. We're offering here a beautifully detailed set of three 1/700 scale CANT Z.1007bis bomber models that have just come out of the 3D printer! The CANT Z.1007 Alcione (Kingfisher) was a land-based bomber design based on the venerable Z.506 seaplane also designed by Filippo Zappata. It possessed excellent flying characteristics including good stability and speed and is cited by some as the best Italian bomber of World War II. While that may be debatable, it certainly could lay claim to being the best looking. T he Z.1007 saw extensive combat in the Mediterranean including the bombing of Malta, action against Allied convoys such as Operation Pedestal and during the invasion of Greece and the Balkans. The type suffered from poor defensive armament and its wooden construction proved susceptible to the harsh conditions, although they were also used in North Africa and in surprising strength on the Eastern Front. 560 were built, none survive today.
This is the only model of the CANT Z.1007 ever produced in 1/700 scale. The set offered here is the later twin-tail Z.1007 'bideriva' variant. These 3D printed models easily rival (and probably exceed) the quality of comparable WEM resin and Pit-Road white metal models but we've posted some high
resolution photos so you can judge for yourself. While photography of these little gems is a challenge for our equipment and limited skills, check out the well proportioned model including the slender fuselage detailed cockpit, Caproni Lanciani Delta E dorsal gun turret and ventral gun hatch, the twin-tail assembly, the engine nacelles complete with the intake ducts and graceful wings with three tiny engine oil coolers protruding from the leading edge!
The surfaces are not perfectly smooth (3D printing is done in layers) but the plastic used can be sanded and painted much the same way you would handle resin or styrene. The models may still have some powder and oil-like agent on them that can be easily removed by washing in warm water with a drop of detergent added to it.
These CANT Z.1007 models should be a welcome addition to any WW2 wargamer's or 1/700 modeler's collection, particularly those interested in Regia Aeronautica bombing and anti-shipping operations. Please take a look at the other 1/700 scale aircraft models that we have on auction as well. We're always happy to combine shipping for multiple purchases to save whenever possible. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions whatsoever.
